Jeremy Mauney

Jeremy Mauney (born September 19, 1982) is an American writer, artist and musician who is most noted for his work as an assistant illustrator in Tokyo, Japan for the Japanese serial comic (manga) Fist of the Blue Sky, from 2005–2006. He is also the founding member of an "interdimensional conspiracy" themed [1] band called NUTRITION.

Biography

Jeremy Mauney was born in Lexington, KY on September 19, 1982. Most of his childhood was spent growing up on his family's horse farm. In early 2005, he moved to Tokyo, Japan in pursuit of a career in art.

In 2005, Jeremy became one of the first Americans to ever work in Japan as a full-time assistant illustrator on a popular serialized Japanese manga.

He was then personally trained by Tetsuo Hara and his staff for several months before contributing heavily to Fist of the Blue Sky. Jeremy worked and contributed to the manga series from 2005–2006 which included Fist of the Blue Sky volumes 13, 14 and 15.

Jeremy also collaborated on an American comic series called Black Forest of the Sleeping Giant, with The Spectacular Spider-Man and Gun Fu illustrator Joey Mason.

After spending three years living and working around Tokyo, Jeremy moved back to his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky with his wife. In 2009 Jeremy wrote and illustrated a short comic biography about his experiences working as a manga assistant calledJeremy, Japan and the Giant Monsters. After gaining the cover feature of Japan's Metropolis Magazine, Jeremy, Japan and the Giant Monsters was put on hiatus.

Currently Jeremy is the frontman and vocalist for the extreme metal band NUTRITION, which he founded in 2009, also creating the artwork for all releases.
